Foundry/Ecov0.1

Keep your typeface.
Subtract the ink.

A browser-based tool for the conscious designer. We embed a discrete, ink-saving matrix into your typeface while preserving the integrity of every glyph outline. Craft-first, planet-led, and entirely private.

The mission.

01 / REDUCTION

Cuts the ink you put on paper by up to a quarter, without softening how the type reads at print sizes.

02 / Privacy

Your font files never leave your computer. Everything happens right here in your browser.

03 / Integrity

You get back a real, installable font (.OTF) with every glyph, ligature, and kerning pair intact.

Hexagons and circles interlock on an offset honeycomb grid for maximum density and ink savings, with subtle organic jitter.

SparseDense

The perforation size is fixed at a safe, anatomically-tuned diameter for your typeface; the slider only changes how tightly the honeycomb is packed. More density means more interior holes — and strictly more ink saved.

Before you print.

This is a tool for paper, not screens. Your eco-font is designed to look its best once it's been printed, ideally on uncoated stock that lets the ink breathe a little.

At normal reading sizes (around 10–12 pt), the tiny holes inside each letter fill in naturally as the ink settles on the page. To you and your reader, the letters look completely solid. To your printer, they used noticeably less ink.

On a screen, the details give the font texture up close. That’s why we’ve given you the flexibility to choose your own style. While the primary mission of this texture is to save ink, why pass up the opportunity to inject some character while you're at it?

The ethical mission

Type designers spend years perfecting their typefaces, let’s respect their craft and support their foundries.

This utility programmatically embeds internal cutouts into letterforms while leaving the outer outlines, structural metrics, and typographic metadata completely intact. However, because this process generates a modified variant of the font file, please ensure your End User License Agreement (EULA) permits software-driven optimization.
